Guys, I have an addiction!
Yes, I’m being totally serious. This addiction drives me crazy every day. Withdrawals are the worst! At first it’s just a small headache, then as the day progresses it gets worse and worse. The headache takes a turn for the worst, a migraine that takes me over completely. Soon I’m grouchy and aching, while popping some ibuprofen just to take the edge off. Anyone who’s been addicted to something can relate to this because they know the pain of trying to wean off whatever you’re addicted to. The problem with my addiction is that it is costly. Not only does the actual addiction cost money, but the travel expense and time that I put into this addiction also costs money.
Cold turkey wasn’t the way to go about this. Trust me, I’ve tried it. The only thing that did was strengthen the addiction. Now not only do I HAVE to have it, but I have to have it NOW! This is the worst! But at the same time… it’s also the best! I’m addicted because it’s soooo good. I’ll be driving and see the Green Goddess and I know I have to pull off the exit and find it! Ask my boyfriend, he will tell you! It’s so bad that even if I’ve just had it in the morning, I’ll find another excuse to get it later in the day. I find any excuse to get it!
The worst part about it is that when I have a withdrawal I immediately plan my day around trying to get to my addiction in order to get rid of the migraine. It’s usually about a 25 minute drive to get to it and it costs roughly $6.25 each time I go. Now that doesn’t seem like a lot of money, but figure in that I usually get it 3-4 times a week plus gas expenses and time. That’s about 4 hours of my week, $35 to fill my car and then the $6.25 each time adding to $25. This is $60 a week alone! That’s insane! Of course, all of this seems super awful when you put it that way but in all honesty, it’s the best part of my day most of the time. If you haven’t figured it out, my addiction is Starbucks.
To be more specific, I’m addicted to Frappuccino’s! I’ve been in a salted caramel mocha Frappuccino mood for the past 2 months. If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to branch out this week! It’s totally worth it! I, however, get coconut milk instead of 2% or whole since I am slightly intolerant of dairy and the coconut milk is healthier. Personally, I think it tastes 50 times better too! Seriously though, I have been trying to cut back on my Starbucks trips, but when they do different game to earn more stars, it becomes dangerous. How am I supposed to pass up earning more free drinks? That’s exactly why they do these games too!
Oh Starbucks, why must you be so convincing?
